Evan Roth

For the past 14 years, Evan Roth have been making work in arts institutions, in public spaces and on the internet, resulting in photographs, sculptures, videos and websites. His work is connected through challenging perceptions, often by way of unintended uses of tools and technologies.

For the last four years, he has focused on his Red Lines project, an ongoing art and research initiative in which he visits internet submarine fiber optic cable landing locations around the globe. This project was awarded a Creative Capital grant and the inaugural Artangel Everywhere commission.

Work from this series has been exhibited at the Biennale of Sydney, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka and a solo show at the Mona Bismarck American Center in Paris and is available online at redlines.network.

Roth has also started two art collectives, Graffiti Research Lab (LED Throwies, L.A.S.E.R Tag) and the Free Art and Technology Lab (the EyeWriter).

Public collections containing Roth’s work include the Museum of Modern Art New York, the Israel Museum and the National Media Museum (UK).
